Okay, we know, we know, it’s shameless self promotion. We will be using the increased traffic from our website to fund this donation. We will be sending Red Cross the check for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.
UPDATE: We forgot to add what we’d do if someone were to “like” the post. We will combine the reblogs and likes we got from our last post along with the reblogs and likes we get from this post.
We wish we can donate more, but it’s all we can handle. If you would like to donate directly to the cause, please click here.
We will be donating 1 cent per every reblog, 1 cent for every like and 5 cents per every new follower we get. We’ll be sending the check to American Red Cross.
Email us at what@viaSQUARED.com for any questions regarding this.
bittertwee said: hmm.. I’d actually say that in the 50s linguistics took an unfortunate anti-empirical turn from which the field is now recovering, but that’s just my anti-generativist bias speaking
I wouldn’t call myself a generativist either, and my 1950’s date wasn’t meant to be a reference to Chomsky (although upon a re-read of that post I can see how it could easily have been interpreted that way). My point with the 1950’s date had more to do with the tools and methods of way-back-when, which are essential for empirical work now but weren’t available at the time, as well as an allusion to the less-than-objective fieldwork on “exotic” languages of the era.
The list is compiled from the number of curse words left in tips and the order is by highest %. Check out the number of times California is on there: seven times.
California makes up 35% of the list of 20.
As a native Californian, I am pretty embarrassed. Sheesh.

So, here’s the story behind this one:
There was all this press about Taylor Swift writing a song about John Mayer. I’ll be perfectly honest and admit that I haven’t heard the song. So, I have no idea what her message actually communicates.
Still, there was all this publicity about the song, and it was a big deal because they were together and he broke her heart yada yada yada. Well, I mean… were you surprised? He has a reputation. And in my experience, a guy with a “lady-killing” reputation won’t change unless it’s on his own accord.
So, that’s it. That’s why I wrote it. I’m basically saying that I can play games, too. (I usually don’t… it’s not my thing and a total waste of time. But I could.) And I originally titled the song “John” and then decided that was uber-lame. ”Walk Away” isn’t much better… so I’d say that’s still a working title.
Like with my other songs, I recorded it in garageband, and it hasn’t been arranged yet. That’s me on BGVs, as well. Just like me, my songs are always a work in progress.
